This experiment helped me to solidify my skills in reading an IR spectrum. Reading a spectrum and determining if the complex is IR active or inactive. I was actually able to properly use the MEL-TEMP and deciphered correctly on whether a complex is melting or decomposing. The decomposition range was determined by introducing a small amount of solid material into a thin walled capillary melting point tube. I didn’t realize more than one complex could be read at the same time
